CDC’s Dr. Mark Keim to Deliver Keynote Address at NEHA 2014 AEC

DENVER---The National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) is pleased to announce that Mark Keim, M.D. will deliver the keynote address at the 2014 Annual Educational Conference (AEC) & Exhibition. Dr. Keim is an expert on emergency and disaster preparedness, global climate change, and a host of other environmental health topics.
Dr. Keim currently serves as the associate director for science in the Office for Environmental Health Emergencies, National Center for Environmental Health/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Dr. Keim has provided consultation for the management of dozens of disasters involving the health of literally millions of people throughout the world. Dr. Keim is the author of several hundred scientific presentations, 40 journal publications, and 13 book chapters. Dr. Keim received numerous awards for his work in CDC’s emergency operations during the World Trade Center, anthrax letter, and Hurricane Katrina emergencies, as well as for leading the U.S. health sector response after the Indian Ocean tsunami.
“Given his stature in the CDC and his experience with the health effects of global climate change, we are honored to have Dr. Keim deliver the keynote address for our 78th annual educational conference. It is hard to imagine a more serious issue facing both our profession and the world,” said NEHA Executive Director Nelson Fabian.

The AEC is a nexus for environmental health training, education, networking, and advancement for environmental health professionals. The 2014 AEC will be held in Las Vegas on July 7-10 in conjunction with the International Federation of Environmental Health. The keynote address is slated for July 8, 2014.
